Need a tool for a few days, not a lifetime?

Becoming a member of The Brighton Tool Library gives you unlimited access to a huge collection of tools in exchange for a small annual (or monthly) fee.

Borrowing works just like a regular library  --  except that you borrow tools (and other stuff) rather than books.

Simply drop by our shop in Kemptown, grab what you need for your next project, borrow for a week, and bring them back clean and ready for the next borrower. You can also reserve items for future collection - see our catalogue.

Thousands of tools are available - from drills & pressure washers to sewing machines & saws - all FREE for members to borrow, with no additional fees (overdue/late fines may apply).

Memberships are available to everyone (over 18+), with options for businesses and community groups (email us).

Just like a regular library, you need to join in order to borrow.
We have four membership options:

  • Advocate

  • Champion

  • Herald

  • Protector

So sign up, choose a membership*, pay your fee and start borrowing today!

* Non-Member Options are also available
